Quiet the Twirling Mind

 

Come get a taste of calming the tumultuous spinning of the mind stuff (vrittis) as you set out on a pleasant journey. Simple, basic and time-tested foundational practices are offered to ground and reinforce you for the deeper, steady and regular experiences to come. Once you see the support and comfort you receive from Meditation it will become part of your Life.

 

Begin Your Practice
start where you are !

First I suggest you find a quiet space, somewhere you will begin to set the energy every time you sit to meditate.

            ~  If you like you may burn some incense, have a picture of something sacred (to you) or light a candle.

            ~  You can begin to keep a Meditation journal, I always found this so helpful, and have a realistic goal to sit silently for your Meditation.

 

Since we are starting very basic lets start here.

            ~ Plan to sit for say 5 minutes

            ~ Take 5-10 deep slow 3 Part breath’s. (If you do not know this Pranayama practice yet, ~ Then just make sure there is expansion of the abdomen, lungs & chest On INHALE and contraction of the same on deep slow EXHALE.)

***  If you get lightheaded, dizzy or nauseous, discontinue the practice and return the breath to normal and sit quietly, as you may not be accustomed to so much fresh oxygen.

            ~ Create an intention

            ~ Watch your thought as they come and go

            ~ Bring your awareness to your object of meditation

            ~ (We will use PEACE & LOVE)

You no longer control the breath you allow yourself to watch its natural Flow.

Now as you watch the INHALE (in your mind) repeat PEACE & LOVE

As you watch the EXHALE (in your mind) repeat PEACE & LOVE

End by taking 3 Slow 3-part breaths and a Blessing for the Wellbeing of All Creation.

See if you can build from 5 to 8 etc.… to 20 min. That is why its good to keep a meditation journal
